Post Sale Update: After 22 bids on eBay, this R65 sold for $3,900.

The R65 has been one of the less popular Beemers over the last few decades, and I couldn’t really tell you why. Is it the relative lack of power compared to the rest of the BMW family? If having “just” 50 horsepower isn’t a problem for you, this could be a fun runabout as it’s been kept in decent shape over the last 33 years thanks to relatively low usage.

As a ’84, this R65 is from the last year before BMW updated the model with a monoshock and the same frame/suspension as the R80. Wet weight was 455 pounds, and the 648cc boxer twin was complemented by a five speed transmission via a single plate dry clutch. Twin 32mm Bing carbs handled fueling and final drive was taken care of with a shaft.

This example has 17,000 miles and it’s said to run and shift like new. It has a ‘newer’ batter and new Metzeler tires, plus the original luggage. The seller rides it weekly and everything is said to work. Find this R65 for sale in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida with bidding up to $1,925
