Fisker and Nielsen of Copenhagen, Denmark made their first motorcycle in 1919, a 750 CC inline four cylinder cleverly known as the Model A. An improved Model B followed and was produced until 1926 with 1,300 total units sold.

In 1934 (no motorcycles produced between ‘26 and ‘34) they brought out the Model C which retained the 750 CC inline four and shaft drive. Between 1934 and 1959 the Nimbus was the best selling motorcycle in Denmark with 25,000 produced over the run. Danish military, police and postal service bought 25-30% of those. Only about 600 were produced during the Nazi occupation.

The 1934 Nimbus was the first motorcycle with telescopic front suspension, a year prior to BMW’s introduction. Nimbus ceased production in 1959. 40 years, three models produced. No significant changes in the entire run of Model C.

The 1951 Nimbus Model C used a 746 CC air cooled four stroke overhead cam motor that made 22 HP. As geared for the sidecar, top speed was around 50 MPH. The motor had no valve covers, so tuning was quite easy. The Nimbus used a 3 speed foot shifted transmission and a direct shaft drive to the rigid rear suspension.

This particular 1951 Nimbus (VIN# 898F) is in Scottsdale, Arizona and is listed as a true low mile survivor. The bike is said to start and run very well, except that the clutch slips. In my research I found that parts are readily available because 4,000 are still registered in Denmark. This bike is currently bid at $5,201 with reserve not met
