A few weeks ago I featured a beautiful Triumph pre-unit salt flat racer. Here’s another pre-unit designed to go fast in a straight line, but this time it’s a Triumph Thunderbird Drag Bike. I’m in love with how it looks.
Known as the Green Machine, this Triumph Thunderbird Drag Bike was built in Salinas in the 50s and is impressively still numbers matching. As you can see, it’s been heavily customized. Highlights for me include a dual carb head off a ’59 Bonnie, the tube tank, reverse megaphones, and the vintage Smiths tach. Lots of parts have been drilled out and lightened, and it’s got a M&H slick tire on the back.
