1958 Matchless G3L

In England, Standard by Abhi3 Comments

Post-Sale Update: This Matchless G3L sold for $8,110 after 27 bids on eBay.

Like the BSA M20, the Matchless G3L was produced for the British Army for World War II. Unlike the BSA, the G3L was extremely popular as it was the first bike that ditched girder forks. Matchless produced about 80,000 examples of this bike, and here’s a lovely example that’s been recently restored.

Matchless G3L - Left Side

This bike has just 8 miles on it post-restoration (the details of which are not well-known), but the seller (Revival Cycles) suspects it has spent some time as a display bike in someone’s living room. It starts in one or two kicks and runs strong. It’s a beauty, and features original touches like the British tax disc and Castrol oil filler cap.
