The Harley-Davidson Sportster XLCH was one of the classic HD’s featuring the usual V-Twin powerplant. Some people claim the CH stands for ‘Competition Hot’. Built by Rodsmith Customs, this a a custom Cafe Racer built with a XLCH base.
The original MSRP was around $1,600, it weighed 452 pounds, and Harley overstated engine displacement to make the bike seem more powerful than it was. The 883cc engine produced 50 horsepower and was capable of pushing the CH up to 120 miles per hour.
This specific Harley Davidson XLCH Sportster Cafe Racer (VIN: 56628WIS) was just finished a couple of weeks ago. Since that time it’s had 100 miles put on it and was a featured bike at Iron Invasion. Unique features include the hand-formed aluminum bodywork, Borrani rims, period Koni adjustable shocks, and modified front hub from a ’68 Guzzi.
