1965 Honda Super 90

In Japan, Small Displacement by Abhi2 Comments

Regular readers know we love the Honda Super 90. It’s no speed demon, but it’s an absolute joy to ride in town. With just 8 horsepower on tap, conservation of momentum is key, and it forces you to think ahead while riding. We think it’s absolutely lovely – so much that the Super 90 is used for our logo.

Honda Super 90 - Right Side

When piloted by a small rider, 65 mph and 90 mpg were easily possible, making this an economical (and beautiful) commuter bike, as long as you don’t need to spend any time on the freeway! Back in the 60s, the state of Nevada had requirements for motorcycle riders between the ages of 14-16. They couldn’t own a bike more powerful than 6.5 horsepower, and even though the Super 90 produced 8 hp, Honda denied it in an amusing letter to a Honda dealership in Nevada to counter complaints by the Nevada Highway Patrol that the motorcycles were too quick.

This specific Honda Super 90 is easily one of the best we’ve ever featured. Cosmetically, it looks fantastic, and the owner claims that everything works great. Our only concern is the lack of OEM turn signals, which we think look great on this bike.
