Post Sale Update: After being relisted, this Impala Sport sold for the BIN of $10,500.

Montesa was formed in 1944 by Pedro Permanyer and Paco Bulto. After some significant success in racing and sales Bulto left the company (leading to the formation of Bultaco) in 1958. By 1960 Montesa had brought out it’s first Impala, a 175 CC.

1965 saw a brand new 250 CC motor introduced that would be the cornerstone of the company success through the remainder of the 60s and on into the 70s. The Impala Sport 250 was essentially the same as the 175 version with some added frame support to carry the bigger motor. Montesa concentrated on the European market, with few units shipped to North America.

The 1965 Montesa Impala Sport 250 used a 248 CC air cooled single cylinder two stroke motor that made an impressive 26 HP with a 4 speed transmission. Very good suspension and brakes with very low weight made the Impala Sport a very fast 250.

This particular 1965 Montesa Impala Sport 250 (VIN# 15M0081) is in Cave Creek, Arizona and is listed as ‘an older restoration done in Spain that is nearly complete and correct’. Mileage is listed as 243 since the restoration. The bike is currently bid at $5,000.00 with reserve not met and a BuyItNow price of $10,500
