1966 White Shooting Star

In Standard by Abhi3 Comments

Based out of Santa Ana, California, White International Motors was the brainchild of Jack White. In the mid 60s, he contracted Csepel Pannonias out of Hungry and rebranded them under his own name. They’re hard to find in the US, and here’s one that’s been made even more rare thanks to a few modifications that were military-inspired.

White brought in a variety of 125cc and 250cc bikes, covering street and MX applications. This bike (VIN: T9021164) is a Shooting Star, which meant it was a 250cc, dual exhaust 2 stroker. Quirks included a 4-speed transmission that was down for neutral and then up for all other gears, a gear indicator that was not readable if you were in motion, and a cheap MSRP of $579. For more information, check out this thread on BritBike that’s got a scan of a Cycle magazine review from 1965.
