5-12 Update: Rob B notes that this bike is back up for sale with a hefty discount down to $3,300. Find it here on Craigslist.

The baby sister of the Lightning, BSA’s Thunderbolt got the usual 650cc twin but it was paired with just one Amal carb compared to the two carbs of the faster Lightning. Known internally as the A65, the motor was BSA’s attempt at unit construction. It would comfortably cruise at 70mph and was capable of doing the ton. A few years later, Triumph and BSA switched to oil-in-frame and the rest was history.

For more on the Thunderbolt, check out this profile on Classic British Motorcycles. This example (VIN: A65TA6866Y) was acquired by the seller a few months ago. He or she then had the bike worked over by Bob Gross of Olde Iron Cycle Works. Now the bike is said to be a great runner that’s not a show bike – so it’s perfect to enjoy without fussing too much about the condition.

Find this Thunderbolt for sale here on Craigslist for $4,200 outside of Orlando, Florida.
