Colin Seeley is a former sidecar racer who became famous as a motorcycle designer. Some of his most notable work came right after he retired from sidecar racing competition, where he built frames for racing motorcycles utilizing Matchless and AJS engines. At the time, AJS had a race bike called the 7R, also known as the “Boy Racer”. With a little bit of magic, the 350cc engine race bike became the Seeley 7R you see in front of you today.

The motorcycling press loved it – “Motor Cycle” called it the smoothest 7R they had ever ridden. Many were taken racing to fully utilized the 83mm bore, short stroke engine that produced nearly 40 horsepower. The base model featured a 4-speed transmission, or you could get a Summerfield 6-speed transmission for some extra dough. The target market truly was privateer race efforts.

This specific Seeley 7R features the 6-speed transmission, Cronshaw ignition, and a Manx rear. Oh yeah, and it’s been successfully raced for years, including 5 Daytona wins and 3 National Championships in the AHRMA. Not bad. Also important, you’re getting all kinds of spares, including several pistons, gears, jets, etc – and records with tuning notes.
