1969 Honda 305 Dream

When Vy and I took a little tour of the Western US last year, we had the pleasure of meeting Rick Van Vooren. He’s the man behind a Honda restoration shop called Rickstoration, and from what I saw when we visited, I’d have no concerns about buying a bike from him. I bring all of this up because he’s letting go of his daily rider 305 Dream. Why? To make room for a GB500 he just snagged.

Rick’s Dream in front of a few of his other bikes.

Basic specifications include 23 horsepower from a 305cc parallel twin motor. That was good enough to get the 350 pound (dry) bike up to 86 miles per hour. If you want more details on what the Dream is like, check out this article on Motorcycle Classics. For a little more about Rick and his shop, check out Day 11 from my trip last year.

Rick led us on a ride out to the Snake River, and he took his Dream with him. It sounded way better than I expected because the baffles have been removed.

Per Rick, this has been his every day commuter for the last year and it features “the typical honest patina of a 48 year old bike.” Everything on the bike works, including the electric start, but the tires should probably be replaced soon and the speedometer face will need to be replaced in the future as the “screw holes are a bit off”:

In his words, “the reason I’m selling it is the same reason I sell all of my bikes. I ride them, enjoy them, pamper them, then pass them on for someone else to enjoy. I never sell a bike that I wouldn’t trust to keep for myself in my personal collection.” His asking price is $3,650.
