This Honda Elsinore 250 is a first-year model of Honda’s first serious dirt bike. Frankly, it was the first serious dirt bike to come straight from an OEM – other bikes required serious modifications from the factory floor. It was the first bike Honda built from scratch instead of trying to adapt a street bike to the dirt.

Honda signed up top racing talent and took over the AMA Nationals for the next several years, and now all of the iconic Big Red dirt bikes, particularly the XR650s of current times, owe their existence to the Honda Elsinore.

This particular Honda Elsinore is AHRMA legal and race ready. It has new suspension internals and Progressive rear shocks, along with a few other choice improvements such as gussets in weak points of the frame. The motor was refreshed recently, and the paint looks to be in good shape. One potential hangup – this bike doesn’t have a title or registration, so you’re looking at bill of sale/off-road use only. Not that this is the kind of bike that you’d throw lights and a plate on, anyway.
