1976 Bimota SB2

I’ve featured a couple of SB2s in the past, but this is the first one that’s available in the US. This was one of the first streetbikes with a monoshock and it had adjustable steering geometry.

This bike had featured the 743cc four-cylinder engine from a Suzuki GS750, slightly modified with 850cc Yoshimura pistons to produce about 78 horsepower. This was sufficient to power the bike up to 135 miles per hour. For more on the SB2, check out this profile from Visor Down, who called it one of the Six Sexiest Bimotas ever built, as well as “arguably the most advanced superbike ever created.” In addition to the monoshock rear suspension and adjustable steering geometry, the SB2 also featured twin Brembo disc brakes, and incredible aerodynamics. You had to pay to play – the MSRP was almost $4,000, making three times as much as the GS750 it was “based” on.

This example (VIN: SB2-00005) has 6,576 miles. It is a former race bike, which is why all the spots where you’d normally see lighting have been filled in. It’s otherwise stock and is said to be in “very good original condition” though there are some stress cracks in the finish. Find this SB2 for sale in Raleigh, North Carolina for $42,500 here at Bimota Spirit. The SB2 is at the top of the page but there’s plenty of other Italian exotic machinery for you to drool over on that page – don’t forget to scroll all the way to the bottom to see a couple of M2s from Vyrus!
