Post Listing Update: This SP was relisted several times but never met reserve – the last listing got up to $2,750 on eBay.

When Moto Guzzi released the SP Spada, they debuted it with a fairing designed in their wind tunnel. I find it to be a bit goofy looking, but it results in excellent weather and wind protection. So while the SP doesn’t come up when people think of the most popular Guzzis, it was one of the better touring motorcycle options in its day – and I think the blue that this example is adorned with is absolutely gorgeous.

The SP features a 75 horsepower, 948cc V-Twin engine and a 5-speed transmission. Dry weight was about 460 pounds and the top speed was approximately 120 miles per hour. Like many other MGs of the day, the Spada featured Guzzi’s “Integral Braking System” – depressing the rear brake pedal actuates the rear disc and one of the front discs, while the the front brake lever clamps down on the other front disc. This example has a healthy 58,340 miles on the odometer but it’s got some goodies – Morris cam, Dell’Orto 38mm round slide carbs, Koni shocks, Telefix fork brace, stainless steel brake lines, Ferodo brake pads, and a new seat.
