1980 Yamaha SR500

In Japan, Standard by Abhi1 Comment

The Yamaha SR500 has been a popular bike for decades, due to clean styling and a reliable single-cylinder engine. These traits have also led this bike to be the base for thousands of custom works, including choppers, dirt-trackers, and cafe racers. Here’s one in “truly outstanding condition”, which is one of the nicer ones I’ve seen in a while.

Yamaha SR500 - Tank

The SR500 was a street version of the XT500, with a 499cc air-cooled single that produced 31.5 horsepower and 27 pound feet of torque. Top speed was 91 miles per hour. It’ll be interesting to see how the market changes for these bikes now that Yamaha is bringing back the SR500!

Yamaha SR500 - Gauges

This specific Yamaha SR500 (VIN: 3h1001060) has just 7,500 miles and is completely original with the exception of a 34mm Mikuni carb and some replacement parts like a Yamaha engine guard and rear luggage rack. With th eexception of some yellowing of the header pipes and muffler, this bike looks close to new.
