1988 Honda NX650

I’m a big fan of the Honda NX650, known as the Dominator in certain non-US markets. In fact, I bought myself a beater example of the breed to learn how to ride in the dirt with, and it was the first bike that I sold through this site (feels like much longer than a year ago). So when Bike EXIF recently featured their top 5 NX650 customs, it got me hankerin’ for another one.

My search ended in this example, which is actually the nicest example I’ve ever seen for sale. Bummer that it’s too nice/expensive to pursue my dream of emulating Andrew Greenland’s bike from the Bike EXIF link – what a beauty!

So here are the basics – the Dommie is a rare dual-sport 650cc single cylinder thumper that was only imported to the US for 2 years (between 1988-1989.) The specs include a 44 horsepower engine, 5 speed transmission, and a dry weight of 370 pounds. The engine was from the XR650L, but you got unique plastics.

This specific Honda NX650 has just 1,950 miles and is 100% original – minus the common “Dave’s mods” to the carbs. It’s had a recent full service, and comes with a Supetrapp exhaust if you’re willing to send a little more money the seller’s way.
