In 1992, Ducati took their 900 Supersport and added several choice extras to create a limited edition called the Ducati Superlight. Unfortunately, for reasons unknown, in 1993 they removed almost all the extras, leaving just a fully floating rear brake to differentiate the limited edition from its less exclusive brother. Today we featured a beautiful example of one of those ’93 models.

Ducati Superlight - Left Side

The 900SL featured a 80 horsepower, two valve v-twine engine with the desmodromic valves that Ducati is known for. The Superlight also got a single seat, instead of the usual biposto setup, and a numbered plaque on the triple trees. And while it sounds like it’s got all the right features and limited exclusivity, there’s one thing that might take the wind out of your sails. The actual weight savings you got with a “Superlight” version? About 6 pounds. Ducati fans didn’t care, and plenty paid the hefty premium for this limited edition. Ducati considered it a sales success.

Ducati Superlight - Fender

This specific Ducati Superlight comes with two fairing sets – a full fairing as shown in the photos and one styled after the SS/CR, which signified a half fairing. Extras include an Ohlins rear shock, Carbon Tech dual exhaust, and carbon bits all over the place. Remarkably, the seller claims that there are no blemishes on the paint – we’d love to verify that claim with our own eyes.
