Producer of big bikes with lovely, torquey V-Twin engines, Guzzi is best known for cruisers and standard bikes. But the Moto Guzzi Sport 1100 was a beautiful deviation from the norm.

Moto Guzzi 1100 Sport - Tail

Visually, the Moto Guzzi Sport 1100 stood out from its Japanese competition because the proportions of plastics to engine made it look so low-slung and broad-shouldered – the middle linebackers of the sportsbike world. This is one of the earlier models, which comes with gigantic 40mm Dell’Orto’s instead of electronic fuel ignition (denoted as the 1100i). The engine produced 90 horsepower and the 5-speed transmission was geared very tall, so you could hit nearly 140. This also means that when you’re in-town, you’re only really using 1st and 2nd. Specs include a straight-cut gearbox, Marzocchi M1 forks, WP rear shock, and a lovely sound.

This example (VIN: ZGUKEAKE7SM100064) is a low production number (64) and while there’s some minor cosmetic imperfections ‘from normal use’, it’s claimed to be very original and in exceptional condition. It’s also said to be original except for a single gel battery conversion, Corbin seats, aftermarket exhaust and Brembo Gold line front brake master cylinder. Refreshingly, the seller notes that the previous owner though the bike needed a new rear main seal because the clutch was slipping, but the seller adjusted the clutch after his/her acquisition and can’t get the clutch to slip now. “It functions with no issues but the seal and related gaskets come with the sale”.
