Post Sale Update: This RC51 sold for $10,000 after 49 bids on eBay.

Honda’s iconic RC51 was built in two versions – the SP1 and the SP2 (the latter was introduced in 2002). The SP2 was an accumulation of what Honda learned in World Superbike racing – it gained two horsepower and lost some weight in the process, as well. Honda was obsessive about shaving weight where they could. For example, they took off 280 grams from the frame. This specific bike stands out as it has thousands of dollars in upgrades and just 804 miles.

The SP2 was an evolution rather than an evolution, a combination of little changes like small weight savings, a 16mm longer swingarm, and a 1.2 inch taller windscreen, bigger throttle bodies (54 vs 62mm), larger steering stem, additional cooling fan…it’s a long, if slightly subtle list. For more on the changes to the SP2 RC51, check out this review on Motorcyclist Online.
