Post Listing Update: This restored CB did not meet reserve at $4,222.69.

The most distinctive feature of the Honda CB400F was the exhaust – some people referred to the headers as “waterfall pipes.” It wasn’t as fast as its competition, but this little four cylinder was smoother, quieter, and gave better gas mileage.

Featuring a relatively rare six-speed transmission, the CB400F was styled somewhat like a cafe racer and had an engine that produced 37 horsepower. Weighing just over 400 pounds, a rider could knock off the quarter mile in about 14.1 seconds. It’s a basic, classic bike that would be just fine serving as a lovely daily rider, even over the age of 40.

This example (VIN: CB400F101954) is said to have been fully restored with NOS Honda parts. It shows 7,360 miles on the odometer, just 600 miles of which have been been put on since the engine was rebuilt. The sale includes the owners manual, tool kit, microfiche parts guide, period magazine ad, a custom bike cover, and “a lot of supporting documentation.” The cosmetics are in great shape but there’s some wear on the controls and a small crack in the right sidecover.
