Custom Framed – KTM 450 Dual Sport

Like many off-roaders, the builder of this bike wanted a lighter, slimmer, and lower version of the KTM 990 Adventure. Unlike said off-roaders, he basically built it himself. Based on the geometry of the 990 ADV, this custom-framed bike featured the drivetrain of a new 2013 KTM 450XC-W, so you can still travel wherever you want…just now with a seat height of 34 inches. Brilliant!

There are parts from other KTMs as well – the hubs are from a 690 Enduro and the forks are from a supermoto. Dual shocks in the rear are YSS units with progressive springs. Other goodies include a Cibie headlight, Renthal Fatbars, HiwayDirtbikes dash with keyed switch, Acerbis seat and plastics, a KTM 990 radiator an dfan, and more. It weighs 275 pounds dry (compare that to 461 for the 990 ADV) and you’ve got 8″ and 5″ of travel in the front and rear, respectively. The only drawback might be that it’s registered as a restored salvage 2010 KTM, but in this case, who cares?
