Do You Believe? 1948 Norton ES2

If you believe the seller, this Norton has competed in the Isle of Man TT and was ‘clocked’ doing 110 miles per hour on a downhill during the race. More recently, it placed 2nd in the Classic category at the Garage Brewed Moto Show in Cincinnati.

The ES2 was introduced in 1927 and was originally sold as a sports bike, though by the time production stopped in 1964, it wasn’t particularly competitive in the world of fast motorcycles. Still, an almost 40 year long production run is damned impressive. In 1947 it gained hydraulically damped telescopic forks – you’ve probably heard them called Roadholders – and a plunger suspension.

This example has 18,000 miles and still has the race motor in it (matching number stock motor is in the possession of the seller but it’s not explicitly clear if that’s included in teh asking price. The seller says it is in excellent mechanical condition, and I think it looks fantastic. Seems like a very cool bike at a reasonable price!
