Ed’s Burton – Norton Dominator Frame with Buell X1 Motor

In Custom, England by AbhiLeave a Comment

The usual suspect with a non-OEM motor in a Norton frame is Triumph, though occasionally I’ve featured Harley swaps like the “Narley“. Here’s one I haven’t seen before: a Buell X1 motor in a Norton Dominator frame. Together, they become the “Burton”.

This is the result of over 12 months of work by Red Max Speed Shop, and I think it’s absolutely lovely. Highlights of the work include a conversion from EFI to a carb, the front end from a Yamaha R6, Hagon rear shocks, Motogadget electronic system, LED light, and some one-off pieces like the fuel tank, oil tank, seat, and even wheels. For more on the build, check out this article on BikeEXIF.

The seller has only put 300 miles on it, and estimates that he’s put over $25,000 into the build. His goal was to “make something that corners, brakes, and accelerates more like a modern bike, but with the look and feel very much applicable to a 1950’s cafe racer.” If you like what he’s done, find Ed’s Burton for sale here on The Bike Shed for $12,195 in Oxford, England.
