Giant Tank – 1971 BMW R75/5 Custom

In Custom, Germany by AbhiLeave a Comment

This R75/5 stands out thanks to stainless steel fenders, Ikon shocks, a custom 2 into 1 exhaust, and the impossible-to-miss enormous fuel tank. For some reason, the seller does not know if it’s an 8 or 10 gallon tank, but it’s way it’s gigantic and rare.

If you came here to mock how this looks – turn back now, because almost of all of the original stock parts are included so you can return it to an original look (and sell off parts to recoup some of the purchase price):

This example (VIN: 2976467) has 19,075 miles, though it’s unclear how many were put on after the bike was customized. Other features include Tomaselli clipons, Dunlop K70 tires, a Shorai battery, and the original tool kit and owners manual. I don’t think the styling works very well as is, but a few touches like throwing the stock fenders back on and adding a seat cowl would help tremendously. Speaking of the original parts, you’ll get the fenders, tank, turn signals, tail light, tire pump, shocks, and more.

The seller (Euro vintage shop Moto Borgotaro) says the exhaust sounds “loud and nasty” – take a listen for yourself:
