12-16-2019 Update: This VR1000 tribute has been up for sale for a while, but reader Rod M. just shared it with me and I see that it’s had a price cut so I think it’s worth mentioning again. Find it here on Craigslist for $7,500 – does that price entice you?

11-4-18 Update: Over a year later, this bike is back up for sale on a different forum with the same asking price. Find it for $10,000 here on Bad Weather Bikers.

Even though it wasn’t particularly successful, the VR1000 was one of the most interesting motorcycles Harley-Davidson has ever built. This replica isn’t going to fool anyone, but if you’re going to make a tribute with your fast Buell, a VR1000 isn’t a bad goal to shoot for. Combine a bored out motor, turbocharger, water injection, and some actual VR1000 extras and you get what the seller calls a Harley-Davidson VR1203T!

While it doesn’t really apply to this bike, there’s a fantastic article about the original VR1000 on OddBike that’s worth a read if you haven’t enjoyed it before. The seller doesn’t give much information in the listing but the original Buell S1 Lightning had a 1,203cc motor that was good for 86 horsepower. This powerplant was been bored out to 1250cc, then given an Aerocharger turbo and Aquamist 5000psi water injection system. The new horsepower figure isn’t given in the listing but when I asked the seller directly he said it has dyno’d over 125 horsepower and 100 pound feet of torque at 4,000 rpms – he also just calls it “very stupid fast.”

The seller also alludes to some “real VR1000 collectible extras” but doesn’t describe what they are. When I asked for more details the seller said that among other things, they include a “carbon fiber VR1000 Miguel Duhamel fairing”. Find this unexpected tribute to badassery for sale in Clinton, Iowa here on ADVRider (registration required) for $10,000.
