I first heard about Matt Brown on one on my favorite episodes of Jay Leno’s Garage – he bought a Honda S600 without an engine and then swapped in the drivetrain from a Honda CBR1000RR sportsbike. Jay calls him part of the “more-brains-than-money club”, and it looks like Matt’s attitude hasn’t changed as he also found himself trying to build a land speed bike from a Honda 600. Unfortunately, he recently had a serious motorcycle accident and he’s decided it’s time for this project to become someone else’s.

If you’ve got some time to kill, check out Matt’s episode:

Otherwise, the bike has a special construction title so that it’s actually street legal and plated in California. The motor is complemented with a Performance Electronics PE3 ECU and a NX wet nitrous system. Per Matt, “this has been a half-hearted project of mine on and off, but mostly has been taking up garage space. I never really gave it the time it needs, and after a recent serious motorcycle wreck, I’ve decided I don’t want to put the effort into getting it race ready.”
