For those who are fans of Honda Motorcycles, you will know that the entire CX line brought massive innovation to the motorcycling world. First was the longitudinal mounted V Twin motor that put the crankshaft output right in the middle which allowed a shaft drive. Modular wheels (and eventually tubeless tires), liquid cooling, carbs tuned for emissions, anti dive suspension, electric only starting and electronic ignition that was isolated from the rest of the electrical system which allowed the bike to be push started even during complete electrical system failure. Disc brakes also came to prominence in the CX line.

The CX500 TC had it’s very own batch of innovations. Turbocharging, programmed redundant fuel injection, electronic failures were reported on the dash, and two pot calipers for disc brakes including the rear wheel. All were ‘firsts’ for Honda and motorcycles in general.

The 500 TC sported a turbocharger mounted in the valley between the cylinders. The turbocharger ran a maximum of 19 pounds of boost which DOUBLED the naturally aspirated horsepower output. The bike was an absolute screamer. Literally and figuratively.
