Per Bob:
I was lucky enough to be invited last week to a VIP event at the Barber Motorsports Museum the evening before the Barber Vintage Festival. Yamaha donated a pair of 2017 YZF-R1M’s. The Yamaha reps ensured us the new R1M® is the closest thing ever to the Yamaha Factory Racing M1 – and the pinnacle of superbike performance.

Yamaha donated Serial Number A000001, and the second R1M is a cutaway to showcase the technology that went in to these incredible motorcycles.

Both motorcycles were unveiled by two time World Superbike Champion, Colin Edwards II “The Texas Tornado” and four time AMA National Champion, Jamie James.

These two beauties have a new home at the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum. These R1M’s join the more than 1,400 motorcycles and automobiles that are all on display at the museum. Most of the items in the museum’s collection have their own stories to tell and these Yamaha’s are the latest ones to become part of the group.
