Post Sale Update: This XV was sold off of eBay to Bike-urious commenter czmx! The 80s have become the inspiration for many new factory designs, and the decade has brought us many starting points for the customs we read about today. The Yamaha XV920 is one of those bikes we often read about having been customized with an R6 front …
3 Beautiful Bultacos
A seller outside of Denver has a trio of Bultacos that he’s looking to sell as a set – plus he’s throwing in a dealership sign, too!
Hageman Cycles TT Tribute – 2018 Yamaha XSR700 Custom
Post Listing Update: This custom XSR was pulled off of eBay, final sale price unknown. Here’s a fun complement to this morning’s Yamaha TT500! I’ve featured several examples of Greg Hageman’s work in the past, such as this DT360-inspired Virago, this Vincent-inspired Virago, the “GoGo” Virago, and this Yamaha-competition winning Star Bolt that may have inspired the creation of the …
Basel Quest Kitted – 2010 KTM 690 Enduro R
Despite KTM’s 690 Enduro R being a competent off-roader, it still left something to be desired for die-hard rally fans. Enter KTM Basel AG, a dealership for the Ready To Race brand based in Northern Switzerland. In 2013, they introduced the Quest Kit, a high-end collection of parts that transforms the stock 690 into a bona fide rally machine.
1977 Yamaha TT500
Yamaha’s introduction of the DT-1 in 1968 was a huge success, but the manufacturer anticipated that upcoming environmental regulations were going to make two-stroke engines difficult to continue production with. They looked into four-stroke motors, and a project of theirs that started in 1971 led to the development of a 500cc thumper that became the TT500, which was released in …
2,750 Miles – 1968 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide
Post Sale Update: This Electra Glide sold for $27,400 after 68 bids on eBay. In 1965, Harley changed the FL model line name from Duo Glide to Electra Glide as they introduced an electric starter. One year later, the FL got a 10% power bump with the introduction of the Shovelhead motor. Two years later, this beautiful example was bought …
Power Cruiser – 1985 Honda V65 Magna
Post Listing Update: The BIN was lowered to $3,250, but that wasn’t enough to attract a buyer for this Magna. As the 80s rolled around, Japanese manufacturers were looking to find new ways to keep their customers and gain new ones. Honda started that change in 1982 by releasing a brand-new engine, a four-cylinder engine positioned in a 90° V. …

8-21-18 Update: 11 months later, Tim notes that this bike is back up for sale with a significant discount – it’s now down to €12,500, which is currently worth approximately $14,400. Find it here on Race Bike Mart. In the beginning of the 1980’s, Ducati unveiled the 90-degree V-twin powered Pantah – the very first Duc to utilize belt-driven camshaft …
1952 Nimbus Type C with Sidecar
View PostRare Project – 1986 Laverda Lesmo
Here’s a project for someone who loves the thrill of the chase, looking for obscure, unobtanium parts to complete a project that will be worth – well, not much.
Classic Hot Rod – 1969 BMW R60/2
Post Listing Update: This R60/2 did not meet reserve despite 33 bids up to $7,700. This probably should be called a R80/2, as it combines the classic style of a /2 with the “modern” features of a /6 and /7 drivetrain – 12V electrics with an electric starter, 5-speed transmission, and of course, more oomph.
No Reserve – 1975 Honda CB360T
Post Sale Update: After 35 bids on eBay, this CB360T sold for $2,050. Introduced in 1974, the CB360 was the twin-powered successor to Honda’s immensely popular CB350. The 360 was not as successful commercially, but this example seems to be a decently-preserved survivor that’s being offered with no reserve.
The Flying Brick – 1988 BMW K75S
Post Listing Update: This K75S did not get any interest at the opening bid of $3,500. At the end of the 70s, with the domination of 4-cylinder Japanese bikes, BMW had to find a way to attract new customers and renew itself. To that extent, the usual flat-twin has been put aside in order to create and develop a new …
2004 Kawasaki ZRX1200R
There has been a recent resurgence of “modern classic” motorcycles: new bikes designed specifically to resemble their elders. For some people however, they just don’t make them like they used to. The Kawasaki ZRX1200R may look like it’s from a time before upside down forks and fuel injection existed, but it is still 1,200ccs of carbureted fury. It was the …
