One of my favorite days on a motorcycle was when I went to Brian Murray’s SoCal Supermoto School. If you need a recap/reminder as to what the deal is, here’s an account from my visit last year. I think it’d be nifty to have a day at the track with Bike-urious readers…so come on down!
Guess That Bike Revealed – Texas Sign Edition
This one is up for debate as there’s no definitive answer, however I do feel fairly confident in awarding the ‘best guess’ award (if I had such a thing) to dnaj for his suggestion of the Suzuki GS450/550L. Other points go to Gee S for the GS450T (but that’s not the cruiser variant) and John Schnabel for the GS400 (close, …
1965 Honda Dream 305
I actually owned one of these (a ‘63) back in the day. Marketed as a ‘Tourer’ it was sorta slow and clunky but it had electric start and started every time. The ‘Dream’ was model CA77 and was nowhere near as sexy as stablemates CB77 (Supersport) and the CL77 (Scrambler).
2005 BMW R1200ST
This is the ugliest bike BMW has ever made, and I think you should buy it because nobody else wants to. A few months back, I got to ride my buddy Jared’s R1200ST for 100 miles and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It did everything well. Handled like a sportier RT, and in every other way is …
Motorized Big Wheel – Drifter Trikes
Do you get all nostalgic when you see a neighborhood kid on his Big Wheel? (DO they even still HAVE Big Wheels?) This could be for you, you big kid….
July 2016 Result Highlights
View Post1951 Ambassador Supreme
With model names like Popular, Courier, Embassy, and Supreme, you could probably guess that Ambassador Motorcycles was based out of England. The firm was founded in 1946 by Irish motorcycle racer Kaye Don, and they used Villiers engines until the company went under in 1964. The brand had some success with exports to Australia and New Zealand, but they’re hard …
Open Your Wallet – 1996 Honda RC45 RVF750
The RC45 is a rare homologation bike in the US – thought it was produced internationally between 1994 and 1999, the US only got the ’94 model. 200 examples were built in 1994 for homologation purposes, and then 500 more were sold in Japan over the next few years. From what I’ve gathered, only about 20 are still in the …
2001 Kawasaki W650
Want a classic Bonneville that doesn’t leak? Check out this Kawasaki W650.
1999 Royal Enfield/Buell Custom
Post Sale Update: This crazy custom sold for $3,050 after 15 bids. Yes, it’s another Robert “Doc” Harms build – I will never not feature one of these! This time around we’ve got a turbocharged Buell single in a Royal Enfield frame, and it’s probably my favorite of the offered builds so far.
Custom Airhead – 1979 BMW R65
I’m really starting to enjoy these classic airhead builds. I knew that BMW was trying to change their demographic, but I never thought we’d see a day that people are customizing old airheads. My favorite part is that these builders are repurposing bikes that might not necessarily get a second chance at life. Case in point is this 1979 R65. …
Telaio Rosso in Italy – 1971 Moto Guzzi V7 Sport
View PostFord Flathead Custom Trike
Post Listing Update: The opening bid was lowered to $3,600, but that still was not enough to get any interest on this oddball trike. Starting with the flathead engine and transmission from a 1952 Ford, this oddball trike runs – but are you brave enough to take advantage of that fact?
Guess That Bike – Winner’s Submission Edition
Double kudos are now owed to commenter jhelle: not only was he the first to correctly guess the BMW Futuro from last week’s episode of Guess That Bike, he now follows it up with his own submission of an interesting bike to guess. So…guess this bike!
In Poland – 1983 Moto Guzzi LeMans Cafe Racer
Post Listing Update: This Guzzi cafe did not get any interest at the asking price of $17,000. Starting with a MkIII LeMans imported from Holland, the Polish seller of this bike had a cafe racer built over 8 months and it’s claimed to be in perfect condition.
