Based out of Colton, California, the HPE Muskin Cement Corporation specialized in pool construction but when the minibike craze took off in the US they decided they could also make some money with small vehicles. I’ve featured a few examples of their most common product, El Gato , but they also created a four-wheeler called the Dune Cat as well as this three-wheeler called the Tri-Cat. This example hasn’t been started in a while but it’s a great start on a unique project!
In all the literature I can find, the Tri-Cat is said to have a 5 horsepower Briggs & Stratton motor but the photos for this listing clearly show a 5 hp Tecumseh. Regardless, the original MSRP was about $400 and the Tri-Cat was designed to go anywhere thanks to telescoping forks, a torque-converter, differential, dual rear brakes, and ATV tires.
