If ever there were a philosophical mis-match in the moto world, it had to be the marriage of Erik Buell and Harley-Davidson Motor Company. An avowed motorcycle racer and sport bike enthusiast, Buell built his first competition motorcycle in 1983 and went on to design and build Sportster-engine based street bikes. Harley began acquiring Buell’s company in 1993 and had …
Well Farkled – 2006 Buell Ulysses XB12X
Been looking for a big enduro but you think the R1200GS is a bit too common? Have a seat and read on, my friend.
John Deere Themed – 2001 Buell M2 Cyclone
Well, here’s something you won’t see every day – a John Deere themed motorcycle.
2007 Buell Lightning Super TT
For just two years and 1,700 units, Buell channeled the supermoto feel and created the XB12STT, a tweaked version of their Lightning streetfighter. It was also known as the Buell Lightning Super TT. Those of you with off-road backgrounds will feel instantly comfortable once you hop on the narrow single seat of the Super TT.
Never Titled – 2009 Buell 1125 CR
When Buell released the 1125R superbike, some people felt it was let down by a lack of finish. The “Cafe Racer” brother, called the 1125CR got much more love – here’s an example that’s never been titled.

View Post1995 Buell S2
The first model built thanks to the partnership between HD and Buell, the S2 (also known as the Thunderbolt) was quite a new take on the American V-Twin motorcycle. Here’s a 20 year-old example that still looks great in Black Sapphire Pearl. It has 11,210 miles and some modifications – Andrews N6 cams, Vance & Hines muffler, Corbin seat, and …
1 of 800 – 2000 Buell X1 Lightning Millennium
Presumably named after its year of release, the Buell X1 Lightning Millennium was a limited production run (800 bikes) that was all about silver aesthetics. 400 were sold in the US, 375 were sold in Europe, and I have no idea where the other 25 went.
Custom Harley Rat Bike
Here’s a crazy custom of a rat bike built with a Redneck Engineering frame around a Buell XB9S engine. There’s a lot of bare metal and a custom seat, but the really interesting things are a fuel tank made out of two air compressor tanks and an oil tank made out of a fire extinguisher. What do you think?
Start Your Own MSF – 30 Buell Blasts
The Buell Blast was a foray into beginner bikes by Buell/Harley – as such they were often used in motorcycle instruction programs like the MSF. It seems that one school has moved on from their fleet of Blasts, so now you can snag a 30 rack of Buells and…start your own MSF?
Not For Everyone – Buell XB9 Rat Bike
The seller freely admits that this bike is not for everyone, but it sure is…interesting. Originally a Buell XB9, this has had some custom work to look something like a Mad Max bike with a twisted girder front end, cheese grater exhaust, and plenty of copper sheet metal. Buying it is one thing, but would you ride it?
1996 Buell S1 Lightning
The Buell S1 Lightning was the sportbike in Erik’s 90’s model offerings. Produced between ’96 and ’98, just 5,000 examples were sold before Buell evolved it into the X1 Lightning.
