Post-Sale Update: This LeMans sold for $6,500 after 22 bids on eBay. As a child of the 80s who loves straight lines, I always enjoyed the styling (and the giant white Veglia tach)of the Le Mans Mark 3. Those were a few of the 80 changes that Guzzi made between the Mark II and III.
1979 Moto Guzzi Le Mans 1100 “Special”
This Guzzi was built “with the intent of a track bike for classic events”, and it’s got the bonus of being registered for the street in California. Notice anything interesting? It’s got a ’95 Sport 1100 engine stuffed into a ’79 Tonti Le Mans frame!

In 1983, the Moto Guzzi Le Mans III was brought back after MG was able to get the smaller engine certified under US emissions – for a few years the US was stuck with a 949cc engine. With the arrival of the Mark III, Guzzi created approximately 80 technical changes of varying severity from the Mark II model.

Arguably the successor to the V7 Sport, the Moto Guzzi 850 LeMans was named after the famous race in France. Guzzi took a modified version of the 850T engine and wrapped it in interesting styling that has led to it becoming a cult classic.
