“Variant” – 1981 Yamaha XV920R Custom

5-25-16 Update: Reader Bob K notes that the Variant is back up for sale here on Craigslist with a slightly lower asking price of $10,000.

9-22-15 Update: Apparently the seller did not get enough interest on his/her local Craigslist, so this bike is now up on eBay. Find it for sale in Denver with an unmet opening bid of $9,000 or a BIN of $11,000

Named Variant, this custom was built by Greg Hageman and has been featured on Pipeburn.

During the build, Hageman was able to shave 150 pounds off the weight of the XV. Goodies include progressive forks, a custom Hagon shock, Tarozzi clipons, and a paint scheme reminiscent of the Vincent Black Shadow. I think this build is beautiful, except for the hideous speedometer.

The seller has had the bike for a few months, and for some reason he/she has put less than 100 miles on it. Apparently the seller is now looking for a bike better suited for long distance commutes.
