“Grumph” Project – 1966 Greeves Challenger with Triumph T100 Engine

Post Listing Update: This hybrid did not get any interest at the opening bid of $3,000 on eBay.

You’ve heard of Tritons, and maybe you’ve heard of the odd Norley or the Burton. But “Grumph” is new to me! The seller uses it to describe his combination of a Triumph motor and a Greeves frame, which means it could also be called a “Treeves”, I guess.

This example (VIN: 24MX3834) has the motor from a 1969 Triumph T100S, otherwise known as the Tiger. The seller’s logic is that the Greeves frame and suspension (particularly the leading-link fork) were good, but it was let down by a “mediocre power plant thus the hybrid using a Triumph engine.” The seller acquired it in 2012 as a runner, then planned on overhauling it a few years later. Unfortunately, he never got around to it but the photos show all the new parts that are ready to slap on. The seller calls it the “perfect project for a pandemic.”

Find this Grumph for sale in Shelter Island, New York with an unmet opening bid of $3,000 here on eBay.
