The listing for this bike is seriously inadequate, but this bike is so rare that I’m letting it slide.

View PostAuction Recap – 2015 Mecum Harrisburg
Let’s all thank reader David N, who went out to this year’s Mecum Harrisburg auction (I previewed it here) and took the time to share his experience, which includes the acquisition of the three bikes you see above!
Auction Preview – Mecum Harrisburg 2015
Oops…I should have posted this earlier but I somehow managed to forget it. Thankfully, reader David N. reminded me that Mecum is having a ~200 motorcycle auction this weekend in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Here are my 5 favorites:
Event Recap – 2015 AMCA National in Oley, PA
Let’s all thank reader David N, who attended this AMCA National and was kind enough to get his thoughts together so we can all see what it was like!
1966 Benelli 125
One of the many bikes sold under the Benelli/Montgomery Wards Riverside partnership, this 125 is claimed to be great running low mileage example complete with the original black license plate. With the exception of some clubman bars and levers, it’s very stock. Find this Baby Benelli for sale here on Moto Guzzino in California for $2,995.
Custom Honda CX650 Cafe Racer
Built by retired master tech Kevin Murphy, this bike is based on a CX650 Turbo frame that has been joined with the front frame section of a GL500. That’s combined with suspension from a CBR954RR and the gas tank and exhaust system from a European-market GL650. Lots of different Honda parts came together to make this pleasant custom which sort …
Brand New – Mondial Piega 1000
A niche Italian manufacturer that specialized in high performance, small displacement bikes between the 40s and the 70s, Mondial made their name with World Championship road racers in the 50s, and motorcycles like the Mondial 200 Super Sport. The company went out of business in 1979, but was brought back to life in 2000 by a Italian newspaper tycoon, and …
Meet a Reader – Barry Baxter
Like a surprising amount of Bike-urious readers, Barry Baxter is an accomplished pilot, with all kinds of licenses and tickets (commercial, instrument, multiengine, helicopter, aerobatics, and instructor). He’s flown over 100 different types of aircraft and has over 4,000 hours of flying time. I don’t know what it is about pilots and motorcycles, but they sure do seem to go …
Auction Preview – Bonhams Grand Palais Paris
So the giant auctions in Vegas have come and gone, but the circuit keeps going. In two weeks (February 5th), Bonhams is having an auction in Paris with some very cool motorcycles up for sale. As usual, here’s some of my favorites. This time I’m highlighting 7 – not necessarily what I think are the best buys, but rather bikes …
Bike-urious: 2014 In Review
With the end of 2014 comes the close of the 2nd year of this little motorcycle site. Let’s take a moment to recap a few things:
Bought on Bike-urious – A Norton Tale
My favorite posts on Bike-urious are the “Bought on Bike-urious” series. It’s very rewarding to be able to help you guys and gals find the next bike of your dreams. With that in mind, I think the perfect way to wrap up my posts on Christmas is with an introduction to Jean, who regaled with me with the following story …
2005 Benelli Tornado Tre
Benelli was one of the many companies that struggled to survive the onslaught of Japanese competition, starting all the way back in the 60s. As years passed, Benelli was bought and sold several times until production was shut down and the company was merged into Moto Guzzi in 1988. 2002 marked the return of Benelli, with their first new bike …
1974 Laverda 750 SF2 Custom
The Laverda 750 SF2 was not particularly impressive on paper: just 65 horsepower out of 744cc at a time when the “Superbike” category was getting into full swing. But it’s an attractive bike – some think it’s better looking than its bigger brother triple.
3 Little Italians
Someone seems to be parting out their collection, and is offering a bundle of three little Italians. Read on to get more details on each one.
