Post Listing Update: This Desmosedici did not meet reserve despite 17 bids up to $37,100 on eBay in Old Saybrook, Connecticut.
In their attempt to create the ultimate sportbike, Ducati created 1,500 examples of the Desmosedici D16RR. The RR stands for Racing Replica, and it was a limited production version of the Desmo racebike piloted by Casey Stoner in MotoGP. This example takes it a step further thanks to a custom paint job to make it look even more like Stoner’s machine.
197 horsepower, 377 pounds, and 191 miles per hour tell quite a story, but for more on this legendary motorcycle, check out this story on Car and Driver – they call it “the nearest thing to a 2006 990cc MotoGP race bike.”
This example (VIN: ZDM1ZDFWX8B000461) is #461 of 1,500 and it has covered just 670 miles. All the factory recalls have been performed, now it’s up to the market to decide if this one-off paint job makes the bike more or less valuable than the rest of the D16RRs…
