I stopped by Robb Talbott’s museum on my way up to the Quail, and I couldn’t stop staring at this pair of exhausts. Who knows what bike they are from?
2010 BMW S1000RR Race Bike
The S1000RR sportbike was a revelation when it was first revealed, and it was an excellent platform for enthusiastic street riders and track racers. Here’s one that’s been focused on the latter – the seller has seen 178 miles per hour at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California – are you willing to try and top that?
1973 Husqvarna Two-Fer – 400 CR and 125 WR
By 1973 Husky had near domination in dirt racing world wide. The list of winning Husqvarna riders reads like an all star list: Malcolm Smith, Bob Grossi, Heikki Mikkola, Arne Kring, Brad Lackey and many more rode Husky to wins. The 400 CR was known as a ‘ready to race’ out of the crate motorcycle. The open class thumpers were …

1965 Honda CB160 Racer
A couple of years ago I attended my first Vintage GP. I went there specifically to check out some sidecars, but there were a lot of great classes. One of my favorites was the CB160 race, because it begins with a Le Mans start. I hope the next owner of this bike will participate in similar events.

Period Custom – 1940 Harley-Davidson Knucklehead Chopper
In the 60s, this Knucklehead was chopped up to become the “40 Knuckle.” The seller has owned it for the last 30 years, and he knows who owned it going back a previous 20 – he loves knowing the provenance of this bike and I’m sure the next owner will appreciate that as well.
Big Twin Custom – 1931 Harley-Davidson VL
Post Sale Update: This custom VL sold for $22,000 after 25 bids on eBay. This beautiful VL is currently setup as a flat tracker but it’s titled/registered and it comes with everything needed to run it on the street as well. I really hope the next owner decides to go the street route, but I’ll love this bike either way.
Ex-AMA Superbike – 1980 Honda CB750
The seller doesn’t give many details about this bike in the listing, but it’s apparently a former AMA Superbike racer that was campaigned by Koegler Racing. Yesterday it was at the Pacific Coast Dream Machines show in Half Moon Bay, California – did any of you see it there?
108k Mile LC8 Package – KTM 950SE and 950SM
Occasional contributor and commenter Walter B needs to make room in his garage for a new bike, so he’s letting go of a 2006 KTM 950SM and a 2007 950SE. First, the Super Moto. He’s the original owner and there’s a build thread on ADVRider if you want to get more details. Before Walter acquired the SE, he took this …

Post Sale Update: After 40 bids on eBay, this TZ250 sold for $7,600. Introduced in 1973, Yamaha’s TZ250 was instantly competitive in club racing and was even able to make a dent at the GP level with a few modifications. What’s so impressive about this bike is that (thanks to the aftermarket) it was successful for 3 decades. This example …

Well Farkled – 2005 Kawasaki ZX-6RR
When Kawasaki bumped up displacement of their 600cc class sportbike to 636, street riders rejoice. But spec racers found themselves in a predicament as the new bike was no longer allowed in their classes. Kawi took care of their racing customers by offering an extra “R” with the limited-production ZX-6RR. Though it gave up displacement and a small amount of …
