3/13/22 Update: Five years later, one of my favorite bikes featured on Bike-urious up for sale again. When I was on a ride to Texas and back on a Moto Guzzi V85TT, reader Dave S. kindly invited me to come check out his collection of bikes. Two of my favorites were an incredible KZ1000S1 that ended up selling for over $100k and this Katana restomod.

Well, the Katana is now available again and it’s looking mighty fine. Find it in Tucson, Arizona for $26,500 here on Facebook Marketplace.

Post Listing Update: With just one bid at $18,500, this gorgeous Katana did not meet reserve.

Built by Darren Begg of dB Customs, this incredible Katana features fantastic styling, top-notch components, and a 1,260cc motor that produces 173 horsepower at the countershaft!

If the name dB Customs sounds familiar, it might be because I’ve featured his work in the past – specifically a Honda CB1100F that was, until today, my favorite Japanese restomod:

If you can afford the prices that come with this kind of work, I think restomods are some of the best options in the world of two-wheelers thanks to a combination of classic styling with current components. As Darren puts it, the “results are high-powered icons of yesteryear, brought fully into the modern age.” This example (VIN: JS1GT72A4C2101629) gets a 1,260cc motor that puts out 173 horsepower and 110 pound-feet of torque thanks to a build by Ray Mancini of Xtreme Motorsports. Other goodies include 38mm Mikuni carbs, JayGUI race exhaust, carbon fiber bodywork, Brembo brakes, Ohlins suspension, Dynatek electronic ignition, OZ Racing wheels, Pulse Performance billet triple trees, Koso gauges, Yoshimura throttle…the list just goes on and on.
