As you likely know by now, I’m one of the owners of Iconic Motorbike Auctions. We have a few international divisions, one of which is in Canada (specifically, Sorrento, British Columbia) and it’s run by a wonderful gent named Mark Lane. In addition to handling things for Iconic up in BC, Mark has a motorcycle museum (Dreamcycle) and he runs an adventure motorcycle tour company. Earlier this year I went up to check in on Mark, which means I obviously had to take a look at his museum as well!
Normally when I visit a museum, I focus on photos as they are easier to amass (especially when I’m talking to someone else). This time around I tried a series of videos, frequently featuring Mark so he could talk about his selections. This was mostly because videos do better on social media and I wanted to share these clips with Iconic’s followers, so hopefully you’ll still enjoy what I have to share below:
1. A quick intro to the facility:
2. Mark isn’t just into motorcycles. Check out this cool Carbon Arc light projector!
3. A quick look inside.
4. 1911 Pierce Arrow 4 cylinder.
5. Honda NR750.
6. Something I’ve never heard of before – a 1934 Galimberti.
7. A classic Harley-Davidson with an interesting story.
8. A WetBike!
9. A crazy Kawasaki 900 that’s been turbocharged.
10. A factory Suzuki GSX-R750 with some local racing provenance.
11. Yamaha TZ250 race bike built by someone who had a simple belief: “if you want to have a winning bike, you need to have a bike that looks like it needs to win”. I love the front end/rotor!
12. Suzuki GT550 with just 3 kilometers on it.
13. Half Honda CBX, half Ducati 999R!
A peek into the shop…and a close-up on a RC30 motor that needs a rebuild.
So there you go – a semi-quick look at Dreamcycle Motorcycle Museum thanks to the man behind it all! If you’re ever in the area, go check it out, and tell Mark I sent you!
