Post Sale Update: After 33 bids on eBay, this Titan sold for $6,200.

Though it was always in the shadow of Honda’s CB450, the Suzuki T500 (also known as the Titan) was one of the best bikes the firm had made to date. Thanks to the intellectual theft of 2-stroke technology from MZ as detailed in Stealing Speed, Suzuki was able to create a big displacement 2-stroker that you could rely on. In a world where two-strokes were all about dramatic power bands and quarter mile times, Suzuki built some that were suitable for everyday riding, or even touring. This example is claimed to have gone through a “complete nut and bolt restoration.”

This was the biggest of Suzuki’s T-series bikes, with a 492cc engine that produced 47 horsepower, capable of getting the T500 up to 105 miles per hour. Want to learn more? This bike (VIN: T50044275) was acquired 7 years ago by the seller with 1,400 miles on it after it had sat in a garage for 35 years…and then outside for 2 years. THe seller acquired most of his parts from Paul Miller and it looks like nearly everything has been taken care of. In the seller’s words, “the only flaws are a small 1/4″ chip in the chrome of the headlight bucket and the gas cap had pits (pot metal) and did not chrome well.” I’m pleased to hear that the seller then put 5,000 miles on it since he restored it, and everything is said to work and the only thing it needs is a new rear tire soon. The sale includes the original tires (Bridgestones with red stripes), tool kit, and more.
