1985 Suzuki DR250

In Dual-Sport, Japan by AbhiLeave a Comment

Post Sale Update: This DR250 sold for the opening bid of $1,399 in Northbridge, Massachusetts.

The 1985 model of the DR250 was the “F”, which was visually distinguished by a front disc brake as well as yellow paint job with yellow fork lowers.

The seller of this example restored the tank as it had a dent in it, and it seems that led to stripping the bike down and sandblasting/painting everything that he could. Recent parts include a petcock, fuel lines, wheel bearings, gold O-ring chain, sprockets, clutch kit, brakes, and a rebuilt front fork with heavier fork oil and stiffer springs. Everything is said to work except for the taillight, which needs a bulb.

The seller says this bike is ready to ride or display thanks to a recent oil change as well as a new jug/piston kit. Old dual-sports like this haven’t really become classics yet, so it’s rare to find one that’s had this much love thrown at it. The styling (particularly of the headlight) isn’t for everyone, but this is one of the better examples I’ve ever seen of a mid-80s DR.
