Post Listing Update: This Yamaha did not get any interest at the BIN of $2,750 or best offer.

Introduced in 1981, the Yamaha DT50 (also known as the DT50MX) was barely updated throughout its 15-year production run.

It was powered by a 49cc 2-stroke single and made for an excellent pit/camp bike that could even be ridden into town thanks to the street-legal equipment. The late 80s liquid-cooled models had a 6-speed transmission, which helped the bike get up to about 50 miles per hour. Despite the tiny motor, the ergonomics were comfortable for larger riders. A rare option was a Paris-Dakar style bodykit, which just looks awesome:

This example (VIN: JYA3BKA07JC003247) shows 1,222 miles on the odometer and it looks to be a well-preserved survivor. The seller says that he bought one to “buzz around the neighborhood” as he had one as a kid, but he doesn’t ride it so it’s “time to move on.” When he bought it, he had a mechanic go through it and install a “new battery, spark plug, air filter, crank seal, fuel petcock and we removed the tank and sealed it.” It’s said to run great and the seller’s willing to take offers.
