<1 Mile - 1999 Kawasaki ZRX1100

In Japan, Standard by AbhiLeave a Comment

I love Kawasaki’s ZRX and its blend of ’70s UJM and ’80s Superbike tenets that somehow combined comfortable riding ergonomics, liter-bike performance, Eddie Lawson-inspired styling, and a relatively cheap MSRP. I think it’s one of a few “special” motorcycles that can be ridden regularly. In fact, one of our technicians at Iconic exclusively commutes on ZRX1200s – he generally buys them with about 10k miles on them, puts about 60/70k on them (he used to commute 100+ miles a day), then sells them and moves on to the next one. While I know these can take a whole bunch of mileage, I’m featuring this specific example as it’s basically the exact opposite. It has just 0.6 miles on the odometer and I’m curious to see if a nostalgic collector is going to want it.

The 1100 (acutally 1,052cc) inline-four motor was good for 97 horsepower at the rear wheel, enough to accelerate up to 60 miles per hour in 2.9 seconds. When it was released in 1999, Cycle World deemed it the Best Standard as part of their Ten Best awards. 11 years later, Cycle World would also call it a “Best Used Bike”. For more information, check out this “Smart Money” buyer’s guide from Motorcyclist magazine.

There’s not much to say about this example considering the mileage. I’d rather have a 1200 but I can’t imagine this bike is going to get ridden anyway. Will it go to a private collector? Museum? Kawasaki dealership? Who knows!
