I know I just featured one of these bikes, but this Norton 850 Commando John Player is one of the nicer examples I’ve seen with an auction full of details and photos – and that’s always a winner.

Estimates suggest that about 200 of these limited edition liveries were produced – the mechanicals were pretty much the same from a Mk. 3 Commando. This means you got 50 horsepower, 435 pound dry weight, and a top speed of about 115.

Norton 850 Commando John Player - Side Panel

This specific Norton 850 Commando John Player (VIN: 325957) has 16,772 miles and has enjoyed both a repaint and a full engine rebuild. The latter consisted of forged JE pistons, Black Diamond valves, Boyer ignition, and much more. Everything seems to work except for the the tachometer, and it comes with a minor, quintessentially British, oil leak. There are some other minor cosmetic concerns that weren’t addressed by the repaint, but the seller is upfront about them and includes photos of anything you might be worried about. As the seller suggests, it seems to be a ‘honest, rider level’ Mk. 3 Commando.
