Post-Sale Update: This Suzuki GSX-R 1100 did not meet reserve at $4,450.

Following on up a likely touring bike with a giant front fairing – the BMW R65, today we’ve got a much more unlikely touring candidate – the Suzuki GSX-R 1100. This first year example has had a Targa fairing added, adding tremendous wind protection and allowing for a Storz handlebar and foot pegs, turning it into an incredible quick sport-tourer.

Suzuki GSX-R 1100 Targa - Fairing

Featuring 137 horsepower and weighing just 434 pounds, it was the fastest bike on the block at the time. Introduced right after the United States lowered the import tax on bikes above 700ccs to 24.4 percent (from over 39 percent), the bike even seemed like a relative bargain.

Looking like the Union Jack, this specific Suzuki GSX-R 1100 has been turned into a sport-tourer and has the miles to prove it. With 53,000 miles on it, this bike has gone through 2 owners and 28 years. The color-matched Corbin seat and Performance Machine Chicane wheels are both excellent upgrades, and you’ll get a Stage 3 Dynojet intake and Yoshimura Duplex exhaust. What a wonderful older sportbike! The seller includes several more photos here on a Photobucket album.
