Never Started – 1985 Kawasaki GPz750 Turbo

Post Listing Update: As expected, this Kawi did not get any interest at the BIN of $100k.

Considered by many to be the best of the Japanese turbo’d bikes from the 80s, the GPz750 was sold for just two years. This example is from the second year of production, and it stands out because it has never been started before.

As a reminder of why turbochargers are great, this motor produced 112 horsepower, which was good enough for a 10.7 second quarter mile. It would take Kawasaki another 6 years (this bike was introduced in 1984) to beat that with the ZX-11, which knocked off the quarter in 10.26! For more on the GPZ Turbo, check out this Retrospective from Sport Rider.

This example (VIN: JKAZXDE16FB502465) has only had one owner, who attests that it has never been started. In fact, the battery has never been filled up and the tank has never seen fuel. It has never been registered and it’s still on the original MSO. The sale includes the original owner’s manual and a brochure. The only flaw seems to be the tires, which are understandably showing some signs of age with cracks in the sidewall.
