No Reserve – 1950 Indian Papoose

Post Sale Update: This Papoose sold for $4,800 on eBay.

The Indian Papoose was a rebadged Brockhouse Corgi, itself a civilian version of the Excelsior Villiers Welbike – a single seat scooter designed to be dropped into combat situations via parachute-equipped containers, then unpacked and be ready to ride in less than 11 seconds.

Obviously that urgency disappeared with the civilian bikes, but it still utilized the same 98cc two-stroke air-cooled single cylinder which produces 3 horsepower. The total package weighs approximately 71 pounds.

This example is being listed on behalf of the son of the original owner “the son knows very little of the history of the bike as it has sat for longer than he has been alive.” The lister took care of some maintenance and it “runs and operates as it should.” With that said, there are several “cons” listed, such as “delicate” wiring, cosmetic damage from a crash years ago, a gas tank that should be cleaned up, etc.
