Post Sale Update: This Bultaco sold for $7,500 after just 1 bid on eBay. Spanish for ‘shrapnel’, the Metralla was one of the most famous motorcycles to come out of Spain. The regular Mk2 model is rare enough, but Bultaco also offered a “Kit America” – a race package with a different tank, tail, handlebars, and a tweaked engine that …

View PostMusical Intermission – 5 Honours and a 175
After I featured a Honda CD175, a reader from Ireland wrote in to share a song that was quite related. Enjoy!
Canadian Spec – 1999 Honda Fireblade CBR900RR
The first generation of the Honda CBR900RR, affectionately known as the Fireblade, was a revolution in the large displacement sport bike market. Despite a 50% larger engine, this bike weighed just 4 pounds more than then CBR600F2. Just as important, this bike was a whopping 76 pounds lighter than its lightest competition! Here’s an example from our brothers to the …
Ending Soon- 1976 Husqvarna 175 GP Cross Country
This beautiful Husky was from the estate of Mike Owens, vintage racer and co-founder of the ‘Legends & Heroes’ traveling motocross museum – it was ridden by him in competition.
Baby Gixxer – 1987 Suzuki GSX-R 50
The GSX-R 50 was Suzuki’s take on the street-legal minibike movement of the 80s. The Yamaha YSR50 and Honda NSR50 are the more common options, I love the ‘little engine that could’ feel of the Suzuki GSX-R 50 – especially this paint scheme which almost exactly matched what you’d get on the Gixxer 1100.
Tribute Build – 1952 Vincent “Black Lightning”
This Vincent Black Lightning is called a tribute as it was apparently built with “all original parts” after factory production ceased. Part of the Gene Brown collection, it’s received quite a bit of acclaim, including a 1st place at the Quail Motorcycle Gathering – it’s even the subject of a painting (or maybe two).
Guess That Bike – Revealed
The boxer engine of Sunday’s Guess That Bike comes from a 1957 Douglas Dragonfly – one that’s currently available for sale in the UK! Were you able to identify it? I got several responses from you impressive readers (and most of you were correct). Special mention goes to MadMike, who was the first reader to give the correct answer.

View PostRoland Sands Custom – 2007 Aprilia SVX 550 Road Racer
Remember the Super Single race series I’ve mentioned before when featuring bikes like this Yamaha or this Kawasaki? You may remember that Roland Sands Design built those prototypes. Aprilia apparently thought they could do it better with their supermoto, so they commissioned RSD to build a similar prototype with their SVX 450. According to the seller of this bike, RSD …
1990 Honda RC30
One of the prettiest motorcycles ever built (plus an absolute legendary sport bike), the Honda RC30 was produced in limited (300) numbers for homologation purposes so Honda could compete in WSBK. My favorite stat? It could hit 82 miles per hour in first gear.
Guess That Bike – Boxer Engine
Alright, my last “Guess That Bike” was too easy – so this one’s a bit more challenging! Can you identify what this bike is, based on the engine (and a little bit of the body)?
Supercharged – 1978 Honda GL1000
Randakk’s Cycle Shakk has another supercharged Goldwing in the works, so here’s your chance to snap it up before someone else does.
