Post Sale Update: This YDS2 sold for $1,525 after 7 bids on eBay in Merlin, Oregon.

The YDS2 was one of the first models Yamaha brought to the US, and it was well-received. In this Cycle World article, Kevin Cameron called it “a two-stroke revolution” that “redefined the 250cc motorcycle in the US”.

This example retains the 23 horsepower 2-stroke motor, though it’s shaved off several of the 343 pounds that the YDS2 originally weighed. It’s been converted into something you could drag or flat track, though unfortunately not much of the history has been passed on due to the death of the previous owner. The motor works, though the carbs and rear brake should be rebuilt before you enjoy this in motion again. Extras include fiberglass bodywork, 32mm Ceriani forks, Mikuni carbs, 17″ Akront wheel up front and 18″ Borrani wheel in the rear.
